"Re-deploy", as in be offered other posts, rather than people actually losing jobs.

Re: PCSOs taking part in Warrants

Just to risk being called pedantic too, and without wishing to contradict anything posted here by hard working PCSOs, can I highlight a couple of points just for info? 1) a PCSO has no direct role in execution of any search warrant or s18 search, apart from maybe guarding exits from the outside or h...

Re: Allport's scale

Felony, OK we've both had our say and made our points, our opinions are equally valid here. You have no idea how someone else got into the Job or what their merits are, but I think we've both laid our stall out pretty clearly so no need to add much either way. Similarly Catweazle, we have clear view...

Re: Allport's scale

Oh dear I hate to spoil all this revelling in bad news with some straightforward FACTS, but here goes....! 1) Gloucestershire, a tiny force in a predominantly white area, made a stupid decision which indeed discriminated against white male applicants. I know the case well Cat cheers, and actually po...

Re: 2010 Nogsy's BIG 20 for PCSOs

Oh sorry but I can't let you get away with that sweeping clap trap Catweazle! Oh the poor old hard-done-by- "us" ,whilst on the other side of the fence, "them lot" have it all laid on a red carpet?! I don't think so. Why on earth would our entire justice system bend over backwards to favour less tha...

Re: Plan to recruit most new police officers from specials

I just think its sad that people from ethnic backgrounds or low income................females with children...........I don't know many mothers who will want to come home from work, look after the children, feed them, wait for husband to come in, go do 4 hours as a special then come home, single pa...

Re: bills for policing at community events?

This would indeed be a worrying story if police were thinking of imposing a universal charge for events such as this. But I also smell a bit of a local politician out for some easy headlines... Cllr Wilkes is an Independent councillor up up there, and from his web site at least looks like a good man...

Re: Blackstones handbook 2010

To be honest, no not really. Yes it's a useful publication and yes it's full of information. However, getting it in advance of training can be a bit premature. It's full of stuff you won't be familiar with, and lists all sorts of powers and designations which you might not be empowered with in your ...

Re: "green card" UK resident? is it insurance?

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/ImportingAndExportingAVehicle/DG_10014623 This appears clear cut doesn't it! However, on my old beat I had a resident who drove a LHD car on Spanish plates for over a year, parking the car on his drive which was just round the corner from...

Re: Plans to close 15 out of Surrey's 22 police stations

The story here is about closing police stations, for purpose of saving money rather than being "a good idea" for some other reason. OK, so some are front counters that aren't always packed with visitors and yes, there are lots of web sites and "call centres". But what about those out there who don't...

Re: MET OST - PCSOs TAUGHT, CS, ASP, HANDCUFFING!

Trip, pls see my earlier post! The word "seize" does include your nice voluntary "collection only" I'm afraid. No distinction is made under current legislation - it is merely the physical act of taking CCTV in whatever fashion. To ensure an exhibit is evidentially admissable we need to show an unbro...

Re: MET OST - PCSOs TAUGHT, CS, ASP, HANDCUFFING!

Steve999 is quite right. Where a search warrant is executed, it only grants power of entry to "Constables" (ie. police officers of any rank). Anyone else who tries to enter can be told to leave by the suspect or lawful occupier, which they must comply with. Where civillian investigators or people fr...
