subSilver is the default template supplied with phpBB2 and has been ever since 2002 so why do I love it the most!! I tell you I just cannot stand to use any other template, I really cannot fathom why, I do like the others but not to have as my own environment, subSilver is so bright clear and smooth it's no wonder it has been adopted by phpBB3 | 17:42 |

WhatIsReal was the final template to be added to national-PCSOs. It was never actually intended for national-PCSOs at all, but set up for the two sister sites 'nationalTraffic' and 'Prisonofficer.org.uk' where Elektro, dvdfuture, Solaris, BlueLagoon and all the other templates I could no longer find updated on the phpBB support site could not be installed. WhatIsReal installs with a tiny tiny size 1 font default in the text message boxes that was driving me to distraction. Thank goodness I found an expert on phpBB who could wander through the intracies to reset the text size to something people over the age of 49 can READ!!! | 17:42 |

Chronicles I always loved for the two amazing backgrounds, first the rocky stone wall and second the wood grained desk, how absolutely civilised!! What a great environment to have a working forum. The author obviously spent plenty of time optimising this style, just check out those marble headers as a example, yep Chronicles was certainly a hit for me :-) | 17:42 |

Solaris I loved with a passion, so dramatic, so awesome, so deep space but so difficult to edit. Despite requesting again and again help on adding more menu buttons I never found out how to integrate new buttons properly, hence the new column looked pretty naff and even worse shunted the overlieing menu curve over so that it showed a new line. Oh dear what a shame - a superb board blighted by no way forward for an additional menu column. Again, the forum front page was always fighting to keep an 80% width whereas the legendary members were quite often refusing to play ball, pushing the width outside of it's working parameters!! Perhaps this template shows me for the true amateur I really am, I confess, I could not get to grips with it, amen. | 17:42 |

Blue Lagoon certainly makes you feel a few miles under water, that's for sure! This is one of two templates that would ignore my font size headlines, so if I splashed massive headlines across the Site News BlueLagoon would quietly ignore it totally and display my headlines in tiny little writing that looks like it is fairly inconsequential. Anyway, after a long time I found out the reason for this but even after finding the cause I could hardly be bothered to set to work rectifying it, easier to pick another template that plays ball :-) | 17:42 |

Elektro bit of a girlie one this but nevertheless I do like the bright pinkish swirling background, it gives a very clear and bright environment. The cyclists logo proved extremely popular to begin with, with quite a few comments cropping up - enoying the scene and the officers concerned. It has some great headers and graphic bands and works particularly well, in my view. | 17:42 |

zoneCopper oh woe is me, a couple of years back I lost the right hand wall of the front page, I tried seeking help to return this but was told in no uncertain terms that support for zoneCopper had finished a long time ago and I was then heartily recommended to wind up the theme right there and then! Well I wasn't convinced to do so and soldiered on with it with the right hand wall gone, never to be rebuilt OH WELL no one seems to have noticed :-) | 17:42 |

My favourite is Blue Lagoon! I have no problems with it at all!
I dont like the brown back ground at all! Shelley | shelleybabes 19.2.08
|
| The template I prefer when browsing the Forums is Blue Lagoon.
I did some work with the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) some years ago when I was an Information Systems Consultant. The research showed that readability is enhanced when text is displayed on a coloured background (preferably pastels - blue, green or grey). This can be particularly important if one is dyslexic.
Blue Lagoon fits the bill nicely. | Arthur ASCII 4.2.08
| I have dabbled in the other forum templates but always return to BlueLagoon.
I think its the blue colour that makes it seem more targetted at PCSOs. The one annoying aspect is that there is no "Log In" box at the top of the page that could be useful." | JMGPannal 4.2.08 |
| Hey Malc,
I'm using this template because I find it the easiest to use out of all of them, plus it was the first one I used so I've kinda got used to it!
Cheers Ian | RednBlue 4.2.08 | ![]()
| nice one Ian!! This was the LAST template installed on our phpBB2 forums. I am kind of sad to see it go, I just love the "3D" world top left of the screen and the fact that sometimes the forums allow it to shine through. There was a 'What is Real-Lite' to select as well but I don't think anybody bothered with that | falkor 16.3.08 |

I suppose I just like the classic look to this template. I have settled to it and am comfortable with it. Why change from a classic? It would be like leaving an old friend. | Raven 4.2.08
| Falknor, if i am being honest i did not know that you had so many styles a few times i got different backgrounds and thought that there was a fault with the page, and to think that i thought i was quite good on the computer what a joke(LOL), any way not sure what its called but i think it has a wood background and if i am honest it does not bother me what background i have. | ANTHONY C 4.2.08 | ||
| If i'm completely honest with you, I have never played around with the site enough to know I could change it, I thought it looked the same on everybodys computer However, not to be deterred, Chronicles was the default template for me when I joined, and I've never had cause to change it. Its clear, and everything is easy to read. Its also pretty classy, abit like taking a ride in a classic Jag. | flash_ah 4.2.08 |
| 87 of our members decided to go for this template | falkor 16.3.08 | ![]() | The green buttons spanning the width of the top menu caused me a problem on adding new options similar to the restriction caused on the Solaris template. Talking of the 3 section table this is one thing that I sorely miss in phpBB3 I don't know about you! I also struggled to get a really good site logo in place for dvdfuture and must admit that it never really got the logo it deserved! The template employed some gorgeous light/ dark shade mouse overs and topic displays, very cool! |

I like Elektro because the colours are easy on the eyes! I find that strong colours on a webpage makes it, sometimes, difficult to navigate around. The browns (as it appears on my screen) does not distract too much and I find the page easy to read. The only thing that niggles me is the hyperlinks at the top right of the screen should be lined up | Number8 4.2.08
| "The plainest theme on the site and the best if you just want simplicity. The contrast of the background on the writing minimises the strain on your eyes allowing for quick easy reading. The pictures slot in well with page and colours." | The RunningMan 2006 4.2.08 | ||
| Electro is my favourite template. It’s not the newest or most innovative design but it’s easy on the eyes and reminds me of an old forum I used to frequent, nostalgic almost. | Jimmy_bobby 4.2.08 | ||
| I found electro easy on my eyes. Its always been the one I have used and not really needed to change. The only problem with it is if you want to search for individual memebers find it a knightmare. | timbo 7.2.08 |
| Very silvery, what more could one ask from one's template? | Lieutenant fatman 4.2.08 | ![]() | |
| I chose 'subSilver' as my favourite template, because it is simple! easy to pick up the information that I needed. I found some templates in dark colour are quite difficult to read, specially the small words, maybe I'm getting old now | Victor 4.2.08 | ||
| I like Subsilver because it is easy on the eye in terms of font size/colour and the background is not overpowering. | Sgt87 4.2.08 | ||
| Hi - subSilver works best for me - clear, clean and uncluttered. Easy to read and easy on the eye. The others are interesting - for about a minute or two - but then the novelty wears off and it's back to normal! | tim419 5.2.08 | ||
| Sub Silver, is the template that relaxes me, i have looked at and also used a few of the other templates , but with Sub Silver i feel more at peace. | dizzy 5.2.08 |

I'm not sure what it is about Solaris that draws me to it, I mean it's not like I havn't tried all the other templates. I just can't seem to get to grips with any of them.
There is something special about Solaris, its not to busy but yet in its only little way there is a lot going on. The orange and the black seem to compliment each other like coffee and cream or apple and cinimon. I can read the text with out no problem and I know where everything is.. We have an awesome universe, and Solaris goes some way to show how grand that universe is. FB | Funny Boy 4.2.08 |
| is the only dark color theme where i know where all the buttons are! Like the dark colors all the others are far too bright! | PCSOTristan 6.2.08 | ![]() | |
| i like zonecopper due to it making the forum and the lettering very clear. in the other forums that i visit they can't be compared to the PCSO site and the Zonecopper template | PCSO Mickyboy 2.3.08 | ||
| I Used ZoneCopper because I hink that it was the best for reading the forums, the text stands out relly well. It looks cool as well as being the style that I had when I passed my police exams, so I though i may of been good luck charm as welll!! | Grinner_82 25.2.08 |
