soak a wet handkerchief and place it over your face, then open the garage and drag the man out - EVERY SECOND counts
open the garage doors, WAIT for the fumes to escape from the garage ... then see if the man can be dragged out
call a PC to the scene first to assess the situation, then decide what to do
You and your PCSO partner attend a horrific accident, a young boy has been run over and his hand has been cut clean off, the ambulance is on way and your partner has stemmed the blood flow successfully
wrap the severed hand in kitchen film or a plastic bag and hand it to the ambulance crew
pack the severed hand in a cardboard box, full of ice cubes - the hand needs to be frozen if possible
wash the severed hand under a running tap to remove all chance of infection, then dry it off and leave it within a clean towel for ambulance crew
this is best left to the ambulance crew to deal with, don't even touch the hand
whilst on patrol at a fete you enter a LARGE MARQUEE and see a man having a panic attack, he is trembling all over and sweating profusely .. he then shouts "oh my god I'm finished" and starts barging his way through the crowd, you should
slap him forcefully across the face shouting at him "snap out of it man!"
wrestle him to the ground and hold him there until the ambulance crew arrive
take him to a quiet area and tell him he is having a panic attack, get him to breathe slowly

It has been a very harsh winter with temperatures well below zero. A young girl has been missing for over 6 hours and while searching some woods you find her lost, her fingers are completely white and some are mottled - FROSTBITE!! an ambulance is called but will be an hour getting to you
build a camp fire, reassure the girl and get her in front of it, as soon as the ambulance arrives, tell the crew it's frostbite
place the affected fingers in warm water, dry carefully and apply a light dressing gauze bandage then to hospital as soon as possible
use a hair drier on the girl's fingers to quickly warm them up again while the ambulance is coming to you
an hour is not too long to wait - just stay with the girl until the ambulance arrives and try and cheer her up

You are patrolling alone in a busy high street
Suddenly you come upon an elderly male who has collapsed - a few members of the public have stopped but don't appear to know what to do
The man is breathing and has a pulse but just seems to have fainted. There are no visible injuries either. You decide to SEARCH the person to see if you can find any medical cards or identity clues
no, I would not search the man, I have no power to do so
yes I would search him but first I would ask a member of the public to be my witness

Further down the road there has been quite a bad crash
A motorcyclist has been hit and come off his motorbike
You notice that he is laying on the road wearing a full face helmet
I would not remove the crash helmet in any circumstances, Doctors or Paramedics only
as it is a FULL FACE crash helmet the helmet would have to be removed pretty fast to gain access for checking of possible head injuries
I would assess the motorcyclist's injuries first. If an open airway cannot be maintained for example - I would then remove the helmet
I would ask the motorcyclist to remove the helmet HIMSELF, this is the safest way round it
Upon patrolling near to "Henry's Extra" night club, you see that there has been a fight A man aged about 30 has been punched and his mouth has blood coming from it. As you attend on scene, a woman says to you "Look, his tooth has been punched out" and in the road you see a tooth lieing there. The woman picks the tooth up and with her bicycle water bottle, washes the tooth over with fresh water, handing the tooth to you saying "That's evidence sir" There is no sign of the assailant
you tell the woman to keep the tooth in her water bottle to keep it best preserved for the moment
you take the tooth making sure that the victim is reassured, reinsert the tooth BACK into his tooth socket where it came from
you throw the tooth in the nearest waste bin, as it will only upset the victim
you tell the woman to hold onto the tooth until a police unit can bag it for forensics
